Jason and Will’s value was evident from the outset as we began planning the renovation. We had specific goals and ideas for the changes to our home. While they helped us refine our vision, in many cases they also offered superior alternatives we had not considered. Their guidance and expertise every step of the way helped ensure an incredible result.

Our project included renovations of existing space, build out of our unfinished basement and the addition of a detached garage. The renovated areas included a new kitchen, master bath, home office, powder room and laundry room. The build-out of the full lower level included a custom wine cellar, bedroom, living room with sleeping nook, full bathroom and exercise room. Additional interior updates included replacing doors and moldings, refinishing and installing hardwood floors and updating lighting.

Jason and Will have high standards but they were also mindful regarding real life reality. We appreciated their advice about where to invest in high quality craftsmanship and where we could economize without compromise of our overall goals. They were also careful to address the practicality of each selection and decision - ensuring that our home is beautiful yet highly functional.

Working with Jason and Will (and the rest of their team, including a myriad of subcontractors) was an absolute pleasure. A major renovation is exciting, but living through one can be stressful. Jason and Will kept us appraised of progress, plans and challenges. They went out of their way to be accommodating to our personal needs and to minimize inconvenience. Throughout the process they were calm, reassuring and helpful. During our renovation, it felt like Jason, Will and team basically lived with us so it was comforting that we could trust them completely.

We worked with other professionals during the course of the project including two designers, an architect and a landscape architect. Each of those professionals were important to the successful outcome of our project. However, time and time again Jason and Will made suggestions, revisions or recommendations that improved upon the work of the other professionals.

For example, we worked with an interior designer on the specifications and design of a staircase and landing. However, after construction began and the area began to take shape, Will and Jason began to question the layout. The suggested an alternative that was ultimately much more functional and aesthetically pleasing.

In another case, we were working with a landscape architect regarding the materials and design for our driveway. However, given multiple constraints, the landscape architect could not offer a great solution. Jason knew we were unhappy with the options. Ultimately he devised a much better solution which created a more useful, cohesive and welcoming entry to our home.

Jason and Will have an exacting eye for craftsmanship, down to every last detail. We had plans in place when we began the project, but once the work begins to take place, the unfinished details are endless. What is the right size and shape for the door trim? What color and finish should be used for the floors (or the trim, or the ceiling, etc.)? Is there enough insulation on an outside wall to protect the plumbing? What is the appropriate size and scale for the fireplace surround? Jason and Will worked tirelessly to thoughtfully consider every last detail.

The most extraordinary room Jason and Will created was a custom wine room. We had an overall vision for the wine cellar and worked with a designer and Evert & Brownlee to refine with the overall concept. It was an incredible team effort, but Jason and Will made the room come to life. They obsessed over every element. How each of the piece of wood would fit together, how each edge should be finished, the proper layout for the floating bottles on the stone wall. This room was a labor of love and the result is reflective of their exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Evert & Brownlee coordinated our project from inception to completion. In our case, this included a tremendous team of professionals. Jason and Will set a high standard for their subcontractors. Every step of the way Will and Jason kept us informed of the plans, their progress and how each step would impact us personally. They carefully demolished our kitchen one step at a time to allow us to keep some function as long as possible. When countertops were delayed, they installed plywood countertops so we could use the kitchen while we waited for the stone to arrive. Throughout the project, Jason and Will were endlessly thoughtful.
